CRUSH 2000 August 14, 2001 Cinemateque at the Towne Shown as one of four shorts in the BOYS TO MEN compilation. This was the most adorable gay-themed film I've ever seen, I think. Pubescent girl is cutting out a Teen Beat picture of her favorite dreamy actor, while across town, a big-city boy stuck at his Grandma's small-town house for the summer is cutting out the exact same picture in his room. The girl develops a understandable crush on the boy as he watches 'High School High' on television with her and knows all the stories and gossip about the actors. Meanwhile the boy is feeling an attraction towards a tall kid he sees playing football in the town park. Misunderstanding and heartbreak turn to fun and friendship. The girl is an absolute doll, but the boy is so obviously gay that you'd have to be blind not to see it. The film is funny and all the performances are good. The film sort of hinges on how the girl reacts to her new knowledge. Short, but fantastic. 0 Comments: |
