DROLE DE FELIX THE ADVENTURES OF FELIX 2000 August 14, 2001 Towne Theater H.I.V. positive gay man quits his job and travels from Normandy to the South of France by backroad to meet the father he's never seen. Much better than the trailer would indicate. What is being advertised as a 'gay-man-frolicks-in-French-countryside' film is actually a much more touching story. Felix hitchhikes and walks across France and as he meets new characters a chapter heading is put on the screen separating these different interactions. He meets a 'little brother', 'grandma', 'cousin', and 'sister'. Each vignette is funny and heartwarming, especially the grandmother one. He does seem to meet the most socially progressive people as no one seems to bat an eye at his homosexuality. It is ultimately a happy film about different souls coming together for short periods of time. I liked it a lot. 0 Comments: |
