I must confess I've never seen anime before. I have no idea what the story was in this film. There were good guys and bad guys and in-betweens. But none of that really mattered because the movie just looked so damn cool. There are scenes involving shadows and water and wind that are so lifelike its frightening. The shading and colors were great. When the background people speak, the foreground people are out of focus as if shot in a camera with real actors. It was exciting and romantic and heartbreaking. And it was a friggin' cartoon.
