WHAT AM I DOING HERE

This is for family, friends, web bots, and people who have stumbled upon it who would like to know the latest information on the July 18, 2004 wedding of Rina and Michael. This is a list of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ). If something is not answered here, or you would like more information on something wedding-related, feel free to e-mail and we'll add it to the list.

WHO

Just to make sure you're in the right place, Rina Ann Quijano was born in 1968, went to high school in Modesto, college at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, and is now molding young minds to her "unique" vision of things. Michael Warner Cummins was born in 1966, went to high school in East Lansing and Saratoga, college at UC Irvine, and is now trying to mold Rina's mind to his "unique" vision of things.

WHERE AND WHEN

The wedding is taking place in the hills above Santa Cruz, California. It is among redwood trees with a view of the ocean. Information on the wedding site is available here at the Kennolyn Website. The wedding takes place at 3:30 p.m. The only person allowed to be late is Rina Quijano. I'm told it's her day. The reception is about 50 feet from the ceremony. Bring sunglasses, but not your cell phone.

HOW DO I GET TO THE WEDDING SITE

Kennolyn has put up an Adobe Acrobat (which you probably have even if you don't know you do) file of a map to the place. It is available here.

If you're using Mapquest, the address at Kennolyn is 8400 Glen Haven Road, Soquel CA 95073.

The basic directions are to get to Los Gatos, California, which is south of San Jose on 880/17. Then take 17 South through the beautiful Santa Cruz Mountains. The road is very curvy and the police will pull you over if you go over 59 miles per hour. After about 20 miles, the road straightens out in Scotts Valley and in a couple more miles you'll be in Santa Cruz where you then take Highway 1 South (known as Pacific Coast Highway down south in the lesser half of California). The freeway sign will probably say "Monterey" or "Carmel". Take the "fishhook on ramp" and now the ocean is on your right and you're going south. Get off the freeway after about 3 miles at Bay Avenue/Porter Street and turn left under the freeway. Now the freeway is between you and the ocean. Because I'm Prince Michael The Navigator of the Azores, all directions refer to where the ocean is. Go right on Main Street and continue, sort of veering right at a "Y" that appears. You'll head uphill, on another curvy road, for about four miles. The road name changes from Main Street to Glen Haven after a short time. The Kennolyn sign will be on the left side of the street. You're heading to the Hilltop Hacienda, if a road sign gives you a choice. You'll know you're in the right place when you pass a horse stable. Park in the big lot, and walk around the building towards the ocean. The ceremony will take place on the lawn on the west side of the building. Photos are available at the Kennolyn website.

WHERE SHOULD I STAY

The de facto home base of the wedding is the Toll House Hotel in Los Gatos, California. (That is not our car pictured on the homepage.) We've arranged for a pretty good rate and Los Gatos is an extremely cute little town which is easily walkable. It's about an hour south of San Francisco and about an hour away from the wedding site.

The rates at The Toll House Hotel are:
$119 Deluxe Double
$129 Executive Double
$189 Junior Suite
$229 Parlor Suite

The phone number is 800-238-6111 or 408-395-7070. The ID for the wedding if you book online is 4876.

Los Gatos and San Jose are on the valley side of the Santa Cruz Mountains. The wedding site is on the ocean side of those same mountains.

When searching for a hotel, these are the towns, in location order, to check:
Valley Side
~~Los Gatos
~~Saratoga
~~Campbell
~~San Jose
~~Cupertino
~~Santa Clara
~~Los Gatos is right on 880/17, so a hotel on this freeway, like in Milpitas, for example, would actually be a shorter trip than many places in Santa Clara.

Ocean Side
~~Soquel
~~Capitola
~~Aptos
~~Santa Cruz
~~Monterey

If you're a cheapskate, like I am, you might try Hotwire. They give you the price, but not the exact location until you buy. I'm a fan and have used Hotwire for Cleveland, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and Astoria, Oregon. If you search San Jose, they have a checkbox for Los Gatos, although so far nothing has been available when I've checked. They also have Santa Cruz and Monterey searches.

WHAT IS MY RESPONSIBILITY AS A GUEST OF THE WEDDING

1. First of all, the most important thing is that you be there to share our special day with us. You are important to us, which is why you were invited, and we'd like to hang out with you, and see your face as we take this plunge. We have who we think is a good DJ. We have pretty good food. The view is spectacular. At the least, you can enjoy a free meal and dancing in a pretty cool location. It's a Sunday evening. The Sopranos season will be over by then. What else will you be doing on July 18th?

2. When you come, Rina and I ask that you bring something that will become part of the ceremony. You didn't think we could pull this off without the hippie element that would exasperate both of our mothers, did you? We are incorporating stones, flowers, herbs, shells, and other natural items that you might stumble across on a hike or trip to the sea. Don't worry if you forget to bring something, we'll have a table of stuff available, but a shiny rock from your favorite place, or a flower from your local area would mean so much to us. Not a boulder or bush, but a stone or single flower. These items will be placed on an altar which will be set afire to honor Mother Bathsheba of the Sacred Earth. Just kidding about that last part. But this stuff will become part of the ceremony and we'll have it to remember the day.

3. Although it makes us sort of uncomfortable, but because people ask, we are registered at the following places which are listed in order of our preference (read: generosity of store's return policy):
Bed Bath & Beyond
Macys
Crate And Barrel

OTHER INFORMATION

~~Due to the controversial nature of the ceremony, no one under the age of 13 will be admitted.
~~Due to the controversial nature of Michael's mood swings, no cell phones will be allowed at the ceremony. Seriously. Leave it in your car. I'm not kidding about this. If your phone vibrates or goes off during what is now called "Rina's Day", I will never forget. I'm like an elephant that way.
~~Michael's Last Supper will take place here on Sunday morning. Everyone but Rina is invited.
~~If you have any questions at all, feel free to e-mail us and we'll get an answer for you.
